Arusha National Park
|
One of the few places you can see the colobus monkey in
Tanzania. View prolific herds of giraffes and Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Meru from spectacular crater lakes and catch a glimpse of a rare albino baboon. |

Lake Manyara National Park
|
Nesting under the wall of the great Rift Valley, this park is
known for lions and towering mahogany and fig trees. |

Ngorongoro Crater
|
8th Wonder of the World, Nogorongoro is the largest intact crater and
second largest extinct crater in the world. Animals in the crater do not
migrate in and out, as in other parks. This natural amphitheater covers
100 square miles and is home to up to 30,000 animals, including the rare black rhino.

Tarangire National Park
| A big game and birders’ paradise, Tarangire has 550 varieties of birds
and scenery dominated by the prehistoric looking baobab trees.
Named after the Tarangire River, the area attracts thousands of animals
migrating from Kenya’s Maasai Mara.

Serengeti National Park
| More than 3 million large mammals, including the Big Five, can be found in this,
the largest and most famous of the world’s safari parks. “Serengeti” means
“endless plains” in the Maasai language….for good reason. |

Olduvai Gorge (Cradle of Humankind)
| In 1959 famed anthropologist Louis Leaky put Olduvai Gorge on the map when
he discovered evidence of human evolution dating back 1.8 million years.
Since then, other discoveries of early humans have been found, including
tools and prehistoric animals, lending credence to the area’s current
status as “Cradle of Humankind.” A museum and guided lecture tours are available.

Shifting Sands
| Located near Olduvai Gorge, this geological
phenomenon intrigues visitors from around the world.
The giant "sand dune" shifts 17 meters each year, yet
remains intact in its movement. It is considered a
holy place for the Massai people.

Selous
| This game reserve, bigger than Switzerland, is the largest protected wildlife area in Africa. Selous contains one of Tanzania’s largest concentration of elephants.

Ruaha
| A best-kept secret of Tanzania, this area has been protected from the ravages of humankind because it was unaccessible until recent times. Bird life is prolific and all the big game are present.

Mikumi
| Because of its proximity to Dar e Salaam, this is one of the most popular parks. It is an important center for education, where students study ecology and conservation. The park has wild dogs and reptiles, yellow baboons and 300 species of birds.

Udzungwa Mountains National Park
| Many trails cross this rain forest, where there are 2,500 plant species. This is the only place in the world where the Iringa Red colobus monkeys are found.
