Rongai Route

 

This is the only route to approach Kibo from the north. It allows the clients to ascend the mountain from the northeastern side of the mountain along the border between Tanzania and Kenya. For the final push to summit, trekkers on this trail take the Kibo hut route, joining it at 5000m mark just below Hans Mayer Cave. Again the trek can be completed in 6 days and nights, through trekkers usually take a day tour to campsite beneath Mawenzi peak adding an extra day.

 

DAY 1- MREFU MOUNTAIN LODGE-KILIMANJARO.

Arriving to Kilimanjaro airport and transferred to Mrefu farm house approximately 72kms from Kilimanjaro airport. It is conducive place for dinner and overnight.

 

DAY 2 - SIMBA CAMP

After breakfast, clients will meets with porters and guides where by the company vehicles transferred all to Rongai gate and then ascent to Simba camp via the village of Nalemoru almost 1950m and 3-4 hours.

 

DAY 3 - KILELEWA CAMP

This walking should be taken almost six to seven hours to reach kikelewa caves and camp the area. After the night the ascent continuing to “second cave” 3450 m. Kikelewa caves is 3800m.

 

DAY 4 - MAWENZI TURN

Clients will ascent to Mawenzi tarn around 4330 meters and taking meals and camping. It is almost 3-4 hours.

 

DAY 5 - KIBO STATION AND SUMMIT

The tours continuing from Mawenzi to Kibo hut almost 4-5 hours, about 4730 m. after few rests, the clients with guides during the night will go to conquer the summit, 5895.

 

DAY 6 - HOROMBO HUT

After breakfast, the client’s starts to descent via Marangu route to Horombo hut for meals and overnight.

 

DAY 7 – MARANGU GATE TO MREFU MOUNTAIN LODGE.

The clients complete the descent to Marangu gate and are taken by vehicles to Mrefu Eco-Lodge for lunch and overnight.

 

DAY EIGHT - Optional additional safaris or departure.

 

All-inclusive price is $2,850 per person.
