The Elizabeth Hudgin Centre story:

If the motto of Nature's Gift Safaris is "Travel with Purpose", then the motto of the Elizabeth Hudgin Centre for Sustainability Learning is "Learning with Purpose".

This concept of the EHC came from former NGS safari visitor and appropriate technology design-engineer Michael Frenchman. When he learned of Elizabeth's passing in July of 2021, he proposed to NGS co-founder David Mtui that a fitting and practical tribute and memorial to Elizabeth would be to establish a small scale farming teaching centre at  David's Mrefu EcoLodge.   With Michael's design consulting, David could continue and expand something that he'd already been doing - showing local farmers better farming methods - but do this in an expanded and more intense way both in terms of the kinds of practices and numbers of student farmers.

For all these reasons and more, NGS owner David Mtui is happy to announce the creation of the Elizabeth Hudgin Centre for Sustainability to be hosted at the Mrefu Eco-Lodge in Marangu.
